"What does every parent want out of a preschool experience for their child? Caring environment, great teachers, educational and social growth. The Henry Community Schools Preschool provides all of this and more. The staff truly loves their students, creating a safe, caring environment for your child. To help foster your child's love of school, the lessons are structured, yet exciting and interesting to the students. My son loved the multicultural units the best, and he often came home telling us about what they learned that day. As a parent, I was impressed to see that every lesson also taught or reinforced the pre-k skills that give a child the best head start into Kindergarten, all while following a typical school day routine in an elementary school setting. This was invaluable in helping my son with his seamless transition to Kindergarten. If you are looking for the best preschool experience for your child, you've found it." - Bryan C.
"I can't say enough great things about the Henry Community Schools Preschool. My daughter spent two years in the program, which she absolutely loved. The school's approach teaches fundamental concepts in a play-based environment. My older daughter went to a different preschool and although it was a fun experience, I feel my younger daughter is better prepared for kindergarten as a result of this program. Thanks to the Henry Community School she has a solid understanding of the basic concepts of math, science, and reading - which she embraced due to the way they were presented. She also was exposed to an extensive multicultural curriculum, art, dance, dramatic play, cooking, writing, and music. She has learned excellent social skills and understands the concept of school routine. The teachers are absolutely incredible and I felt comfortable leaving my daughter at the school because I knew she was in such great hands. My daughter continues to go to Henry Elementary, now as a Kindergartener, and she excitedly waves hello to her preschool teachers every day. I couldn't imagine sending my child anywhere else." - Shannon T.
"My son attends the Henry After School Program and absolutely LOVES it! I really appreciate the attention that he receives when doing his homework. Vonnie and her team are great at keeping the lines of communication open with the parents, about BOTH, positive and negative, behaviors. My son and I were so happy with this program, that I even signed him up for the entire summer too!" - Casey B.
"Enrolling your child in a preschool is a big step for any parent. I am so glad I sent my daughter to Henry Community School Preschool. I volunteered in the classroom a few times a month and was exposed to what a talented team "Miss Vonnie" has pulled together to work with these kids. Although the kids are pre-K in age, this isn’t a daycare. There is lots of learning to be done - they are human sponges and soak up all the information around them! There is a schedule that is adhered to in the class room and the rules of “Love and Logic” are upheld. The Henry Elementary "4 B's" are taught and followed every day - which are "Be Caring, Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Respectful". The day starts with outdoor play (weather permitting), followed by group "circle time", then "stations", where the children get to choose their activity. My daughter learned things such as the alphabet, numbers/counting, the sounds of letters, writing skills. Books are read regularly, more than once a day, all stories are followed by a discussion. Activities are often planned in conjunction with the books they read and many multicultural programs to teach the children and their families about the world around them. Miss Vonnie and her staff are a great resource and wealth of information regarding early childhood education and development. They are very open to sharing both what they are teaching that week and how my child's progress was going. I encourage you to enroll your child in this program. My experience was a great one with Miss Vonnie and her staff as they all played a role in the successful year my daughter had in Pre-K with the Henry program. I feel this program was a much needed stepping stone to the success of her future education." - Kari K.

Our caring, experienced staff are dedicated to providing a rich, nurturing environment that will enrich your child's school day. We promote independence in an organized atmosphere, as it is important for children to be their own thinkers. We also teach children to work well within a group through listening, sharing, and cooperation. Our age-appropriate curriculum creates activities that are designed to support your child's social, physical, emotional, and intellectual development. In our center-based program, we focus on language and literacy, mathematics, creative arts and music, scientific discovery, dramatic play, social studies, construction building, and sensory exploration.
We view children as feeling, thinking, creative, and growing individuals. We provide a supportive community within which children expand their learning and development. We believe that for learning to be effective and retained, it must be fun. We support and encourage them to become problem solving, sensitive, contributing, and responsible members of the school community.
